Dr. Beekley has 35 years of experience as an educator; she has worked as a high school English teacher, high school principal, and school superintendent in K-12 education and 7 years in higher education in educational administration.

 

She has a Bachelor’s degree in education (math and English) from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Kansas State University and a Doctorate in Education (curriculum and teaching) from the University of Michigan.

 

She has numerous publications, has served on over 20 boards, and has received recognitions such as National Merit Scholar, Mortar Board, Phi Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and the YWCA Tribute to Women Award, the Ohio Leadership Award, Equality Toledo Award, and the Lucas County Leadership in Prevention Award.

 

Her areas of study include gender, religion in schools, diversity, mindfulness and leadership.
