Here at Mays & Associates, Ltd, (M&A) we are so thrilled to be the new partner to support the Northwest Ohio Minority Business Assistance Center (NWO MBAC). We will administer this program along with the host, Institute for Social Justice at the Union Institute and University. The NWO MBAC is funded by a two-year grant from the Ohio Development Services Agency and officially began on July 1, 2021.
We have not paused any services offerings and have truly hit the ground running. We already have new administrative and counseling staff and a new webpage for the program, nwombac.com. The Lucas County Board of Commissioners have stepped in a leading role to support this program by providing office space and creating public accessible counseling areas. Additional, satellite offices will be set-up in the coming months through the support of a number of other partners. To contact the new NWO MBAC and set up an appointment, simply go to nwombac.com and complete the contact form or call (419) 213-3890.
The NWO MBAC, like other MBACs located throughout the state, offer free programming and counseling to existing minority and disadvantaged business owners and those interested in starting their own businesses. These services will be for qualified businesses in a 17-county area, including Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Henry, Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Paulding, Van Wert, Putnam, Hancock, Hardin, Allen, Seneca, Wyandot, and Crawford counties.
We have a lot of exciting programs planned with special emphasis on the following topics:
Financial literacy and financial products
Strategies for new and existing minority businesses to expand capacities in advanced manufacturing and technology-based businesses
Digital marketing and social media outreach best practices
Certification of Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE)
M&A will continue to provide diversity, equity and inclusion consultation to existing and future clients in addition to supporting the NWO MBAC. It is truly a very exciting time for M&A and for all minority and disadvantaged businesses in NW Ohio.
Follow the NWO MBAC online and on social media to learn more.
